SLI-Consulting Showcases StorageNetworks fastest Transaction Enclosure at Storage World Australia 2004

Solutions break $ barriers, Demonstration of XA24 SATA RAID array scheduled for exhibition

23 June 2004 - SLI-Consulting today announced that it will be providing a live demonstration of its newly available low cost Fibre Channel SANs StorageNetwork XA24 product at this year’s Storage World in Sydney 23 – 24 August, 2004. The StorageNetwork XA24 (SN-4200-SATA) is a self-contained Serial ATA (SATA) storage array that features embedded storage management software with the newly released 400 GB SATA drives from Hitachi Global Storage Technology (Hitachi GST). The company will also be showcasing the next generation of data storage enclosures – the new 2U 30 drive ultra high performing transaction enclosure.

Breaking the sub $3/GB Barrier

SLI-Consulting will provide a full demonstration of the current highest density commercially available data storage array with its recently announced low cost Fibre Channel SANs for its StorageNetwork XA24 solution. The self-contained SATA storage array features embedded storage management software with the newly released 400 GB SATA drives from Hitachi GST.

Aimed at the Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, the XA24 can provide users with a 1 TB configuration starting at less than $9k and maximum 44 TB configuration for $131k.

"This live demonstration will really showcase Asia-Pacific’s first example of a low-cost, intelligent, redundant and highly scalable SAN ready RAID array with a density of 199 TB/m3," said José Goldmann, Principal, SLI-Consulting.

StorageNetworks' Fastest Transaction Data Storage Enclosure

The StorageNetwork array will incorporate the newly announced Seagate Savvio 2.5-inch, high-performance disk drives, creating an opportunity for OEMs and System Integrators to provide one of the most powerful transaction systems in the industry.

“The design of these innovative enclosures with nearly triple the spindle count of today’s solutions are ideally suited for the transactional market space. With achievements including a 2.5 times improvement in IOPS and more manageable footprint, this collaborative product resets the bar in application performance,” said Goldmann.

The storage array technology showcase will address the challenges faced by today’s organisations constantly being asked to achieve more results with less resources.

“If organisations that are currently investing in faster system processors and increased network bandwidth also made similar investments in disk drive performance, IT managers would lower response times while realising significant savings in overall system and infrastructure costs.  This is ideal for organisations in transaction intensive application environments such as financial markets, CRM, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), data mining, satellite imaging, life sciences, oil and gas exploration and meteorology,” he concluded.
